These bonds were negotiable, and by the decisions of this court are to be put on the footing of negotiable paper.4 The title, therefore, is not affected by anything short of actual notice. They are presumed, also, to have been received before maturity;5 and even if proved to have been taken by their last holders when overdue, these may protect themselves under one who took it before maturity,6 and protect themselves, even though they had notice of an infirmity in the title, if they derive their title to the instrument from a prior bon a fide holder for value.7
